Well… what a week.
First, I’m extending our launch cutoff until May 10th for a few reasons – but mainly:
- A lot of people had issues adding a payment method due to a bug with Stripe (now resolved), and
- People are confused.
As a result, we’re keeping the doors open for another week. Details here: http://apps.zag.ai/SCF-ZagUsers
Next, let’s see if we can squash the confusion here, starting with the very basics.
What is Zag?
Zag is an intelligence platform for SEO’s & content marketers. It has a number of different tools that we call apps. See the apps here: https://pub.zag.ai/product-tour
These apps help you find new content ideas, run competitive research, and find new places to get traffic. One of the core apps uses AI which is why we have a .ai domain.
Entry level customers pay $99/mo for using any 15 of these apps at a time. Enterprise customers can access them on a PAYG basis.
We compete with RavenTools and BuzzSumo.
In addition to apps, we have just added a done-for-you (DFY) service where our team finds targeted content ideas for you, and then creates content based on those insights.
This new service is what this launch is all about…
Why Are We Adding Content Services to a Software Platform?
Because this is what truly makes the platform all-in-one, and it gives us an edge in a very competitive field.
If you’re using tools to find new content ideas, you probably also need to create content regularly.
Also, coming up with effective targeting ideas that will actually drive growth is a lot easier said than done. It takes a lot of time to build out a strategy that will actually turn your content into growth.
Our team does both of those things – we find the ideal keywords & topics for your content (depending on whether you want evergreen SEO impact, or to harness rising trends) – and then we actually create the content as well.
There’s also a 3rd option to provide the topics yourself – if you want to do your own research – in which case your order just goes straight to the writers.

How Do I Turn This Content Into Traffic & Sales?
In the simplest of terms:
* For content based on Competitive Gaps: Just publish it on your website / blog. If your domain already has a degree of search visibility, you’ll notice targeted traffic start trickling in anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after hitting publish. If your site is new, then this content will still drive (a very small) trickle of traffic, but it’s more of a future investment that will pay dividends down the road. Once you start gaining search presence by getting links from other sites in your niche, you’ll start seeing all of your content driving measurable, targeted traffic.
Also – publishing “gaps” content is a great way to seed a new site for maximum impact before you begin actively promoting your site, building links, etc.
* For content based on Rising Trends: Just publish it on your blog, and then share it across your social channels & with your email list to keep your audience engaged, earn some social shares, and often a few new backlinks. You can also alternatively post it on sites like Medium.com, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc. to leverage wider content channels. (For more ideas on this, see the crash course I just posted in the first blog comment below).
The overriding key here is consistency.
It’s similar to investing. It takes awhile to get going. But if you consistently feed Google & keep your audience engaged, crickets will become a trickle, trickles will become a stream, and in time, streams will become a raging torrent of traffic.
How Do I Try This Service?
We are letting anyone try this service until May 10th.

Why is There a Time Limit on “Getting In” and Trying This Service?
To be forthcoming, after this launch, Zag will be focused entirely on working with larger companies.
Content services will be our main focus. The apps will take a distant backseat in our marketing priorities for Zag, but they’ll be available for enterprise customers on a PAYG basis.
As such, later this summer we’ll be gating access to Zag, and people will need to request access to demo the platform, view pricing, and so on.
When that happens, you won’t be able to create an account or a trial without first speaking with a rep, etc. And there will be a full onboarding process (complete with a large kickoff deposit).
So before doing that, we wanted to give all our existing customers a chance to come onboard and lock in a spot before we make this pivot publicly.
Note: This pivot will not impact legacy Zag customers (including Sumos). Whatever plan you have currently will continue to exist for you, even if we pull it publicly for new users.
Is There a Monthly Commitment of Any Kind to “Stay Enterprise” After Ordering 2+ Articles?
After ordering 2 articles, you could spend literally $0 for years, and still have access to Strategic Content & our Apps, both on a PAYG basis.
What If I Just Want to Use the Apps, And Don’t Need Content?
There’s two options.
You can either pay $99/mo and use any 15 apps at a time. Keep in mind we are discontinuing this plan (for new users) later this summer.
The other option is to take advantage of this launch, order 2+ articles, and then gain PAYG access to our apps indefinitely as a result.
Side note: If you have no way to use those articles currently or in the near future, then our apps probably won’t help you…
My apologies. If I could make this any simpler, I would.
Basically we’re just trying to give anyone who isn’t confused and finds this useful a chance to come onboard before we seal it up and start catering only to enterprise customers later this summer.
What Happens if I Miss This Launch?
If May 10th rolls by and you missed out, then you’ll need to work with us as an Enterprise client, which means funding your account with $3,000 to kick things off.
For some reading this, that might actually be preferable – there’s an onboarding process with 1-1 platform training, strategic support… and for larger brands/agencies, $3K in content is only about a month’s supply anyway.
For Zag to work as a business, we need to shift all of our focus to enterprise customers.
The numbers simply don’t work for entry level plans (support required vs customer value just doesn’t line up).
So if you aren’t a large company – then this launch is your chance to lock in access to our platform, and use our services & apps on a self-serve, PAYG basis.
Hopefully this helps clear the air on a few things, and paints a clearer picture of what you get & why we’re doing this.
